Prayer Update
Moving Day

Greetings All,

It’s Thanksgiving week here in my house.  November always seems to fly by.  Between the holiday and my birthday, yes it was on November 24th, the month disappears in a flash.  England is in the freezer, with tonight’s temperature dropping to -5.  Not really cold by Russia standards but cold is cold.  The season is definitely changing.

The weather is not the only thing that’s changing.  On December 4th I’ll be moving.  Actually, I’m only moving about a quarter of a mile from where I live now.  I’ll be relocating to the church manse (parsonage for my US friends.)  I’m just a bit stressed by this move.  It might be because it’s happening during the Christmas season or, it might just be that I’ve moved a lot in the past two years.  Whatever the reason, I ask for your prayers for a smooth move and settling in quickly.

There is one minor drawback to this move.  From December 4th through the 21st I will be without phone or internet access.  I ask for your patience and will try to push the powers that be to get me hooked up ASAP.  Aside from this, my contact information will remain as it has been with the exception of my address, of course.  My new address is:

66 Elmdon Road
Acocks Green, B27 6LH
Birmingham
Britain

There is very little news on my Mom.  My family continue to minister to her needs, keeping her as comfortable as possible as she goes through her final days.  She has moved to a full care facility.  The nurse informed my sister that she found my mother in her room crying and asking why is God keeping her here.  She’s been waiting to go for some time but the Lord will bring her home when His plan for her is fulfilled.  Please pray for her peace and that she would place her trust in her Lord.  I do admit that part of my moving stress is the thought that I could be called to return home at any time.

Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year.  I enjoyed learning the Russian way of celebrating Christmas and I’m learning about the British tradition of celebrating the season.  Today we had a Christmas Fair (spelled Fayre in Britain.)  Between now and Christmas many churches will hold such Fairs.  It was a great time of meeting people from the community who would not usually enter a church building.  A couple of people who showed up made it clear that we were not to try to evangelize them.  Even with these, a kind word and a smile broke through their defenses.  We had folks from different ethnic backgrounds visit.  For some it was the first time they had ever seen the inside of our church, though they had passed by many times.  Please pray that we might follow up with the folks that we met today.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years.  Thank you for this past year’s prayers.  I thank you for your ongoing support.  I pray the blessings of our Lord for each of you.  To my family and friends in Hawaii: Mele Kaliki Maka, Hauoli Maka Hiki Ho.

My thanks and Aloha,
Kevin D
